How it works
To protect your personal and brokerage information, BrokerBay is introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) as part of the standard login process. This requirement is being adopted progressively by MLS organizations across various markets.
Depending on your MLS and role (e.g., Agent, Administrator), you’ll authenticate using either your MLS login credentials or via Honeywell, our trusted identity provider. The authentication occurs on your MLS or Honeywell’s website using a one-time verification code they provide, which can be received via email or other methods based on your authentication provider.
This means you’ll use:
- A single set of login credentials for accessing BrokerBay
- A single of login credentials for authentication (either your MLS or Honeywell account)
You’ll only be prompted to complete MFA in certain situations—for example, when logging in from a new device or session.
- What to expect: desktop vs. mobile app
- What to expect: user roles
- New to your MLS?
- Subsequent logins after initial setup
What to expect: desktop vs. mobile app
Once MFA is active for your account:
- On desktop: You’ll log in using your email address, then verify your identity using your MLS or Honeywell credentials. You will no longer use a BrokerBay password.
- On mobile: MFA is not currently supported in the BrokerBay mobile app. You may continue using your existing BrokerBay credentials (email and password).
What to expect: user roles
In most cases:
- If you have an MLS member number (e.g., agents or licensed admins), you’ll authenticate through your MLS.
- If you don’t have an MLS member number (e.g., unlicensed admins, assistants, or non-brokerage roles), you’ll authenticate using Honeywell.
⚠️ Some MLS partners may use Honeywell authentication for all users regardless of role.
To confirm which method applies to you:
- Check your email for a welcome or MFA activation email, or
- Attempt to log in with your BrokerBay email at edge.brokerbay.com. Your authentication method will be determined automatically and you’ll be redirected accordingly.
New to your MLS?
When joining an MLS that partners with BrokerBay, your account is automatically created through our integration with that MLS.
In most cases, you’ll receive an email invite to get started. However, in some cases, manual onboarding steps may be required.
-
Check the email associated with your BrokerBay account for an email titled You are invited to join BrokerBay from BrokerBay. This email contains your unique activation link.
- If you received the email: You’re all set to proceed with the steps under the New users flow in our MLS or Honeywell articles. The link in your email invite will clarify your authentication provider.
- If you didn’t receive the email: Follow the steps below to check your onboarding status.
- From your desktop or mobile browser, navigate to https://edge.brokerbay.com.
- Select Sign up.
- Enter your MLS affiliation and member number.
- If verified: Check your email for confirmation and continue the account setup process.
- If unverified: Enter your contact information and wait for a reach-out from our team.
Subsequent logins after initial setup
After you set up MFA, you’ll stay signed in most of the time.
You’ll only need to sign in again if:
- You’re using a new device.
- You haven’t used BrokerBay in a while.
- You’ve been signed in for multiple weeks without re-authenticating.
When that happens, enter your BrokerBay email and authenticate through your MLS or Honeywell. You won’t need to connect your MLS or Honeywell account again; you’ll only need to sign in and follow the authentication process.
