How it works
To protect your personal and brokerage information, BrokerBay is introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) as part of the standard login process. This requirement is being adopted progressively by MLS organizations across various markets.
Depending on your MLS and role (e.g., Agent, Administrator), you’ll authenticate using either your MLS login credentials or via Honeywell, our trusted identity provider.
This means you’ll use:
- One set of login credentials for accessing BrokerBay
- One set of login credentials for authentication (either your MLS or Honeywell account)
You’ll only be prompted to complete MFA in certain situations—for example, when logging in from a new device or session.
What to expect: desktop vs mobile app
Once MFA is active for your account:
- On desktop: You’ll log in using your email address, then verify your identity using your MLS or Honeywell credentials. You will no longer use your BrokerBay password.
- On mobile: MFA is not currently supported on the BrokerBay mobile app. In the meantime, you can continue using your existing BrokerBay credentials (both your email and password).
What to expect: user roles
As a general guideline:
- If you have an MLS member number (e.g., Agents or licensed Admins), you’ll authenticate through your MLS.
- If you don’t have an MLS member number (e.g., unlicensed Admins, assistants, or non-brokerage roles), you’ll authenticate using Honeywell.
However, some MLS organizations may opt to use Honeywell authentication for all users.
To confirm which method applies to you:
- Check your welcome or MFA activation email, or
- Attempt to log in to edge.brokerbay.com—your authentication method will be automatically determined and you’ll be redirected.
New to your MLS?
When you join an MLS that uses BrokerBay, your account is automatically created through our data integration with that MLS. In most cases, you’ll receive a “Join Brokerage” welcome email to get started.
However, in some cases, manual onboarding steps may be required.

Check your email. Look for a “Join Brokerage” email from BrokerBay. This message includes your unique activation link.
- If you received the email: You’re all set to proceed with the steps under the New users flow in our MLS or Honeywell articles. The link in your welcome email will clarify your authentication provider.
- If you didn’t receive the email: Follow the steps below to check your onboarding status.

From your desktop or mobile browser, visit https://edge.brokerbay.com.

Select Sign up.

Enter your MLS and member number.
- If your member number verifies, check your email for confirmation and continue the account setup process.
- If your member number won’t verify, enter your contact information and wait for a reach-out from our team.
